The Helping Hand

Image
Helping Hand in life, we need to help each other because we need each other to survive. Some people believe that helping someone else might deter them from moving forward but this is so untrue. One comic actress I admire so much always say: "the sky is big enough for all the birds to fly". This is the truth about life. We need to learn to help ourselves, no man is an island. Many people compete with others and miss their purpose in the process. I read something recently on the net about a man Mr. Lawrence Ughamadu, a pastor who narrated, on his Facebook page, an engaging experience he had with people heading to church and victims of a ghastly car accident on Sunday, January 7. He started his story by stating that many Nigerians are like killer-herdsmen.: According to Mr. Ughamadu, “this morning (January 7), I was rushing to catch up with my Sunday service in Benin (Edo State from Onitsha (Anambra State). Just after Abudu, the Honda Pilot in front of me pulled a back tire

Healthy Weight Loss

Healthy Weight loss Though Excess weight  may be sometimes cosmetically undesirable, this is not the most serious harmful effect. The serious harmful effect result from the fact that excess fat, particularly around the mid-section, greatly increases risk of developing a number of other health conditions, like high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and elevated blood sugar levelsScientific studies show that chronic preventable health conditions, including high blood pressure, high cholesterol, type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and stroke are increasingly being associated with excess weight. For example, experts estimate that one-half of all type 2 diabetes cases could be prevented simply by controlling Obesity. The key to losing weight is forgetting about counting calories and focusing instead on eating more of the World's Healthiest Foods. These foods not only help you feel more vibrant and energetic, but they successfully help you to lose weight without feeling d

New Year goals

Image
New Year Goals At the beginning of the year or sometimes before the beginning of the year, we make a list of things we want to do in the year and things we don't want to do in three new year. Sometimes we are able to do half of these things or maybe a quarter of the list or we might just end up doing one of it and leave the rest. Before we continue, I would implore us to make the right goals for this year 2018, goals that will favour us and everyone around us. There are some help lines that would help us to fulfill the goals we set for the year 2018. 1. Sit and ponder on everything on your list. 2. Cross out the unrealistic goals 3. Re-write them starting from the short-term goals to the long-term goals 4. Write all you need to do to achieve these goals; explain the goals. For Example, I want to write ten books; how? When? etc. Maybe I would need to write a book each month or whichever way. 5. Give yourself a punishment; for example, if I don't finish a book in a mont

H. O. P. E

H. O. P. E Edward took a quick glance at the pills on the table, he was ready to take all of it because he knew it would end his sorrowful life. He couldn't bear it anymore, he was ready to end it all. He had lost his wife and two kids in an accident that also claimed his legs, there was no hope for him in the world again. He couldn't cope with the pain and guilt he felt everytime he saw their pictures or remembered their faces. He took the pills in his hands and swallowed everything. He woke up feeling pains all over his body, he thought he was in another world, perhaps the other world they learnt of in church until a Nurse shouted happily, "he's alive!!!". He became sad immediately, "oh no.... You should have just let me die" he shouted angrily as hot tears trickled down his cheeks, "my life is worthless!.... I've got nothing, I am useless.... Why didn't I die?" he cried. The Nurse just stood there looking at him in surprise a

Is this Really Religion Discrimination?

Image
The umbrella body of Nigerian muslims, the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), has responded to the current hijab controversy rocking the Nigerian Law School. In a statement sent to PREMIUM TIMES on Tuesday morning, the Deputy Secretary General of the organisation, Salisu Shehu, a professor, accused the Nigerian Law School of lawlessness and Islamophobia. The group threatened nationwide protest and a fierce legal action should the law school fail to rescind its decision not to call the affected graduate, Firdaus Amosa, to the bar. “There is no doubt that Abdulsalam Firdaos Amosa has been victimized, humiliated and traumatised by the Nigerian Law School, the Body of Benchers and the Council for Legal Education on account of her faith,” the statement said. “She has been denied of rightfully joining her professional colleagues just because of her religion. She has been exposed to ridicule and opprobrium by standing for her religious rights. It begs the questio

Remind me how to love

Image
Tenny parked her car by the roadside and entered the market, she needed to get some groceries from the market. As soon as she entered the market, a young guy dressed in tattered clothes walked up to her, "Aunty, please give me money for food..... I am hungry" he said and demonstrated as he spoke, Tenny could tell that he wasn't lying because he actually looked hungry but she felt nothing close to pity for him. She looked at him again expecting to feel something for him but she couldn't. When she looked at him, all she could see was the bitter experience she had with her older Cousin when she was a teenager. She wanted so badly to see beyond that but she couldn't. She left the market, confused, and entered her car where she broke into tears.  "I've forgotten how to love...... Please remind me" she cried. She graduated with a first class honour in Adeleke University where she studied pharmacy. She had a job at one of the best five pharmaceutical st

True Love

True love: The love of a Mother Someone asked me the definition of true love and my answer was this,  "my Mother", yeah right, my mum is the definition of true love and I believe that most mothers out there are the same also. A mother goes through a lot just for her child, she doesn't care about all she has to face because of her children.... All she knows is that she has to face it. We have Mothers in the world today that are ready to give their lives for their children. A mother's love for a child can't be compared to any other kind of love on earth. We have some Mothers that aren't even women, some men who have lost their wives stand in for the woman and they do excellently well too. A mother is priceless. I love my Mother, do you love yours?
