Stray-A story of love and forgiveness.

                     Stray
Lisa opened her eyes to the new day. She looked at her side and smiled when she saw cherish, she had named her cherish because of how she cherished her. Lisa stood up to make cherish's meal, today was the only free day for her in the month and she wanted to spend it with cherish alone. She glanced at the family photo hung on the wall and a frown knocked on her face but she waived it off, she couldn't be sad today not for anything.  She wished she could take the photo off the wall but something kept holding her back. She walked to the kitchen, it was as neat as ever, she whistled and sang as she prepared cherish's meal. It was something she really loved doing, singing was like everything to her until...... , she crossed over from that thought to another thought. The thought of spending a full day with cherish, maybe they could go to the park together and enjoy the cool air or perhaps they could just stroll out. She finished preparing the meal and took it to her room but cherish was not there on the bed. She called her name but there was no response, she checked the bathroom, wardrobe and everywhere but cherish was not there. She took out her whistle and started blowing it hoping that cherish would hear and come back but Cherish never came back. She went out on the street calling cherish but there was no response. Tears formed in her eyes, she walked for about half an hour asking passers by about cherish but no one had seen cherish. Someone asked her to go back home and check so she went back home but Cherish wasn't home too. Seconds , minutes, hours and days passed but she could not find cherish. One evening she got back from work looking sad then she glanced at the photo again. Immediately, a thought came to her mind, what if this is what her family has been going through for 2 years now? If she could feel so stressed out, unhappy only after few days then how was her family feeling after she left for 2 years. She began to think of why she left home with cherish, her parents had stopped her from going for the national singing competition which had been her dream since she was a little girl. She had feet so bad so she ran away from home at the young age of 18 years to live on her own. She left the house immediately and took a bus back to her parent's house. She was afraid to knock but after much waiting , the door opened and her mum was standing and looking at her.  Her mum stood there for 3 minutes and tears trickled down her eyes, she shouted "our prayers have been answered " and other members of her family rushed out to meet her. They hugged her and were happy about her return. She entered inside and saw the ' welcome Princess' flag, she asked her mum if they were expecting her but her mum said the flag had been there since the day she left because they believed she would be back.  She broke down into tears and her family consoled her, she asked them why they stopped her from going for the national singing competition. They told her the organiser of the competition had told them that a winner had been chosen before the competition started, she also learnt of how her dad had fought with the organizer for her sake but he said the winner was either a girl who could sleep with the judges or a guy who could bribe his way. They had only stopped her from a heartbreak . She looked down and saw cherish waving towards her, wagging her tail, she bent and carried cherish in her arms. Now she understood, she would never stray away again from the ones that really loved her. Thanks to Cherish, she was able to come back to the Lord.
Many of us stray away from the mercies of the Lord because he didn't let us have what we want just like the girl in the story. We forget about his love and his plans but want to have our own way. If you have strayed away, I implore you to come back into his ever open arms. Remember that He loves you.
